International NGO Conference “NGOs as actors in development and implementation of the Baltic Sea Action Plan: next steps and joint actions” in Urmala, Latvia.

The aim of the meeting is to network the NGOs from Eastern part of the Baltic Sea region in order to propose specific measure aimed at the Baltic Sea Action Plan implementation and future joint actions in the environmental field.

Center for Transboundary Cooperation – St.Petersburg in cooperation with Baltic Environmental Forum – Group, Mama-86-Odessa and NGO “Ecoproject” in Jurmala, Latvia organized an NGO Conference “NGOs as actors in development and implementation of the Baltic Sea Action Plan: next steps and joint actions”. The event was held on 7-8 November 2007.

The aim of the meeting was to network the NGOs from Eastern part of the Baltic Sea region in order to propose specific measure aimed at the Baltic Sea Action Plan implementation and future joint actions in the environmental field.

Currently, the Baltic Sea Action Plan is drafted and to be adopted in November 2007 by HELCOM states so NGOs should be prepared to form own position on the BSAP implementation and agree on the measures to support proposed objectives.
